As an Official Sponsor of UEFA EURO 2008™, Canon will have a strong presence in all of the official Fan Zones in eight host cities: Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Vienna and Salzburg in Austria: Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland. In Vienna and Basel, Canon will be offering a unique and innovative high-tech spectacle for everyone visiting these cities for the duration of the tournament called the Canon ‘EURO Flash tunnel’. The EURO Flash tunnels are 17 meter long structures1 housing an exhibition of 12 historical football photographs from the Getty Images archives (one image from each of the previous UEFA EURO tournaments). The images will be presented in an exciting way making use of innovative light technology. Entry to the Canon EURO Flash tunnels is free of charge and guests walking through the tunnels will see 12 different sections along the inner walls. Each section stirs the emotions via a mixture of animated images of famous football moments, moving lights and sound. In the Fan Zones in both Salzburg and Zurich, Canon will also construct ‘EURO wall’ exhibitions that will also feature the 12 historical UEFA EURO tournament photographs. In Vienna and Basel, Canon Foto teams will be present in the Fan Zones to photograph guests. People having their photograph taken will then be able to access and download the images via the Canon website. Guests will also be able to receive and wear one of the one million Canon/UEFA EURO 2008™ branded wristbands that will be distributed. James Leipnik, Chief of Communications & Corporate Relations Canon Europe said: “As an official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2008™, we are very happy to bring to the tournament this powerful exhibition that marks some of the great moments in football. We will also enable football fans to capture the emotions of the tournament and take home their own images and memories of the 2008 event.” Alan Ridley, Head of Sponsorship & Event Promotion, UEFA, said: “We are expecting millions of people in Austria and Switzerland to visit the Fan Zones operated by host cities during the 23 days of the tournament. All 31 matches will be screened live on giant screens in the Fan Zones and we are delighted that Canon will be adding significantly to the UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zone experience.” Media enquiries, please contact:
